A Democratic ticket from the 1864 election illustrated with a portrait of Presidential Candidate George B. McClellan in uniform. In an effort to unify the deeply divided party, the Democrats nominated pro-war McClellan alongside anti-war Representative George H. Pendleton, an Ohio-native and close ally of Copperhead Clement Vallandigham.
Van Wert County recorded 2,407 votes in the 1864 election, with just over 50% voting to retain Lincoln, who would carry the whole state of Ohio.
