.32-20. 24.125" barrel. SN: 53285. (mfg. ca. 1894) Blued metal finish with straight wrist walnut stock featuring crescent butt, half length forend, and full length magazine tube. Lever action internal magazine fed repeating rifle with front brass blade and replaced adjustable rear notch sights. Item shows signs of extensive amateur repair including: tang has been roughly rewelded, hammer spur has been reattached by a rivet that has begun to chip, loading gate replaced with one from a different rifle that does not fit correctly and blocks movement of the elevator, excessively long rear tang screw, and stake marks along the rear receiver behind channels for the locking block, likely to tighten the action. Barrel and tang retain original Winchester markings, but they are shallow and difficult to read. {ANTIQUE}

Poor. Bore is Very Dark with pitting, oxidation, and weak rifling. Metal finish is primarily deep brown patina having been buffed and refinished at some point with traces of blue in edges. Tang is rough. Stock has been sanded with large chips along the tang, wood fill on butt, wobble to forend. Needs mechanical attention due to replaced parts, particularly the loading gate which affects the movement of the cartridge lifter. Not considered safe to shoot until inspected and repaired by a qualified gunsmith.
