Deep English blued metal finish with color casehardened cylinder, loading gate, and ejector pivot mounting a bright hammer and trigger, and checkered walnut one piece grip. Double action six-chamber loading gate revolver with PATENT marked side pivot ejector. Item features double line border engraving on the frame with light borders at muzzle and sunburst engraving around hammer screw. Left frame is struck TRANTER'S / PATENT over the serial number with 450 caliber mark to upper left flat of octagonal barrel, and 450 gauge mark to the bottom. Mating number 25 to barrel, frame, and cylinder. Inventory number 30 struck into the triggerguard and forward gripstrap with Birmingham firing proofs to all major parts. Retailer mark on upper right flat is engraved JOHN BLISSETT & SON / 322 HIGH HOLBORN, LONDON.

Founded by gunmaker and jeweler John Blissett in 1832, the firm of John Blissett & Son operated at the 322 High Holborn address from 1866 to 1876, during which time this handgun was retailed. Very Fine. Bore is Bright with crisp rifling throughout. Metal finish retains substantial case colors on the cylinder and loading gate with the blued finish fading to brown patina on all handling surfaces and on frame flanks. The hammer and trigger both show some pinpoint gray patina on the spur and trigger face. Grips with handling wear, dents, and some skips. Split forming through forward grip below forward gripstrap. Action shows good timing. Front sight blade is broken off with the base of the blade still in the slot on the top of the barrel, near the muzzle.
