.380CF. 4.5" octagonal barrel. SN: 30111. Blued finish, color casehardened cylinder, checkered one-piece walnut grip. Double action Tranter's patent solid frame revolver with hinged loading gate, five chamber unfluted cylinder, pivoting ejector rod under barrel, grooved top strap rear sight and blade front sight. Tranter's Patent markings on frame and ejector rod. Top of barrel engraved with the retail marking "JOHN BLISSETT & SON 322 HIGH HOLBURN. LONDON." A very nice example of an early Tranter cartridge revolver made circa 1868-1873. {ANTIQUE}
Very Good to Near Fine. Bore good with moderate oxidation and some pitting but retaining good rifling. Metal with some strong traces of blue on the barrel and nice traces of faded case colors on the cylinder. The balance of the metal is moderately oxidized with a mottled gray and brown patina and some scattered surface roughness. Barrel with some vise jaw marks, mostly on the left side. Markings remain clear and legible. Mechanically functional action with good timing, indexing and lock up. Grip near fine with fairly sharp checkering, showing some scattered surface bumps and mars and a couple of deeper dings.
