Charles Osborne was born in 1799, and established his own gunmaking firm by 1838, which bore his name long after his death in 1871. Based in Birmingham and London, the company produced break action shotguns and actions for other makers, including Holland & Holland. Additionally, they served as a retail outlet for fine arms produced by other firms, including Remington's from the United States. P. Orr. & Sons, on the other hand, was a retailer based in Chennai, India, which became best known for selling fine jewelry and watches. Such firms often marketed firearms to an elite clientele, with this revolver being emblematic of the favored pattern of defensive revolvers carried throughout the British Empire. {ANTIQUE}

Good to Very Good. Bore is Frosty with some patina and crisp rifling. Metal finish with some pinpoint pitting on upper frame and at muzzle, and a mottled gray to brown patina dominating. Some scattered nicks, pinpoint pitting, and abrasions. Grips show handling wear and dents. Action exhibits good timing.
