27.75" curved single edged blade with an 18.75" narrow unstopped fuller along the spine. Blade 1.25" wide at ricasso. Overall length 34". 6" hilt with spiral grooved bone grip, a four-slot iron guard and knuckle bow and an olive shaped gadrooned pommel cap with a baluster capstan. Saber is unmarked. This is a classic example of the shorter version of period horseman's sabers that often saw use by infantry officers on both sides during the American Revolution. Although the design and form is decidedly English, these were made locally in the colonies as well.

[American Revolution][Sword][Saber][Edged Weapons]

Good. Metal moderately oxidized with evenly distributed light pitting and scattered surface roughness and a somewhat mottled brownish patina. Guard with some wobble and looseness.
