• Full-length albumen CDV occupational studio portrait. N.p.: n.p., ca 1860s.  Full-length studio study depicting an African American woman standing beside a large laundry tub on a wooden wicker-style stand, holding a washcloth or garment. She is attired in a headwrap, check-patterned work dress, and wide apron.

• Outdoor genre view ("Dinah Hanging Out Clothes") albumen CDV portrait. New York, [New York]: F.P. Whiting, ca 1860s.Capturing an African American woman in a headwrap leaning out of a multi-story brick building window framed by open wooden shutters, reaching to pin laundry onto an exterior clothesline. Photographer's imprint to mount recto.  The right shutter is inscribed: "Drying the clothes."

F. P. Whiting was an active publisher and dealer of stereoviews, CDVs, and photographic novelties located at 87 Fulton Street in New York City during the 1860s. While period publishers frequently assigned stereotypical stock titles like "Dinah" to genre imagery aimed at Northern consumers, genuine 1860s photographic studies documenting the daily domestic and manual labor of African American women - both in staged studio setups and authentic urban architectural environments - are scarce and historically significant.

Very good overall. Card mounts show trimmed/clipped corners typical of 19th-century album placement and minor edge handling.
