Reproduction of 1874 Sharps Plain Rifle. 12 Gauge. .45-70 Government Cartridge.
Most of the metal is smooth with a thick, untouched, blue patina over all surfaces and an elegant checkered walnut stock and forearm. Featuring a fully octagonal barrel and a double-set trigger.
Sharps rifles, patented in 1848 by Christian Sharps, were well-regarded rifles known for their accuracy and power at long ranges. They found particular use throughout the Civil War and the era of buffalo hunting. This particular reproduction was created by Davide Pedersoli, an Italian company that has specialized in historic reproductions since 1958. Following the excellent design of the original Sharp rifles, this item is a wonderful reproduction of a popularly sought-after gun.
