A majestic view of Wawona Tree, the giant sequoia that stood in Mariposa Grove in Yosemite National Park. In 1881, a tunnel was cut into the base of the trunk, enlarging an existing fire scar. Operated by the Yosemite Stage and Turnpike Company, the tree became a popular photographic destination among Yosemite tourists.
