Jan Masaryk (1886-1948) was the long-serving Czechoslovakian ambassador to the United Kingdom. Notably to the present set, he co-wrote the first pamphlet in the War-Time Series regarding his country's future independence and freedom. 

The Friends of Europe was organized to promote international peace and also to provide British readers with true reporting on Nazism and the German threat. Led by the former Labour MP Rennie Smith (1888-1962), it published both original contributions as well as reprints of speeches by notable figures including Winston Churchill and Albert Einstein. It also occasionally printed addresses and writings of Nazi leadership, including excerpts of Mein Kampf. The organization was listed in the SS Sonderfahndungsliste of British residents and groups to be arrested as part of a Nazi invasion." 

Very difficult to obtain issues of the periodical, much less a finely bound complete run. A fine addition to any World War II library.
