7.7x58mm. 25.9" barrel. SN: 52218. Blued metal finish overall with Asian hardwood semi-pistol grip stock featuring factory spliced toe. Bolt action internal magazine fed repeating rifle charged with stripper clips. Rifle shows a full intact Imperial Chrysanthemum mark above type markings. Left receiver with Kokura Arsenal stamp and 23rd Series marking. Rifle mounts: anti-aircraft rear sight, monopod to barrel band, period cleaning rod, chromed bore, and a Japanese rubberized canvas sling designed for use in the Pacific. Serial numbers match on the receiver, bolt, cocking piece, firing pin, and dustcover. A rare matching and complete example of the Type 99 rifle with all of its most sophisticated components before wartime simplification took place. {C&R}

Good to Very Good. Bore is Minty with crisp Metford pattern rifling throughout. Blued finish is strong but shows a brown patina dominating on the buttplate and further brown spots forming on stock fittings, magazine floorplate, and muzzle. Stock shows handling wear, dents, and some chips to the edges consistent with rough wartime handling. Mechanically functional.
