The painted relic bears the group insignia and is signed by an extraordinary roster of noted aces from the unit, including Chuck Yeager, Clarence E. “Bud” Anderson, Raymond M. Bank, Thomas L. Hayes, Charles E. Weaver, Paul Hatala, William “O’Bee” O’Brien, Pete Peterson, and John Kirla.

Together, these celebrated pilots accounted for an impressive tally of aerial victories and were awarded many of the nation’s highest decorations for gallantry, among them the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, and multiple awards of the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal.
