An evocative print showing two German soldiers in the trenches of World War I. The man lying on the ground has fallen back due to being struck in the head by a bullet. This must have just happened because his fellow comrade gazes down at him, looking dejected — there is no doubt he is upset to have lost another comrade, but at this point in the war, he has most likely seen so much death that it no longer shocks him.
