Clara Barton (1821-1912) was an American nurse who founded the American Red Cross. She notably served as a hospital nurse during the Civil War and became an advocate for women's rights as well as nursing reform.
Libbie Custer (1842-1933) was the wife of George Armstrong Custer. She followed him on campaign during the Civil War and in his subsequent Western postings. She became an advocate for his legacy through lecture tours and the publication of several books.
Adeline King Robinson (1865-1943) was an American female tennis player who competed from 1883 to 1890, winning 8 singles titles.
