Wagoner, Indian Territory. Outdoor albumen cabinet card view of oxen-drawn carriages. Noractur, Kansas: E.D. Macfee, [after 1885]. Photographer's imprint to mount verso. Ink inscription caption to verso.
A well-composed outdoor view showing an iconic scene of the American West. Two covered wagons are posed in the street of a frontier Kansas town. The smaller wagon to the left is hitched to a team of two horses, and a woman and several other passengers are visible inside. The larger wagon, apparently filled with cargo, is hitched to a team of 8 oxen. A man and a young boy are saddled on horses, while several other men and a dog pose for the photographer. Perhaps the convoy is about to depart for a new homestead farther west in the frontier.
