Pay Roll of a Company of Artillery commanded by Captn. John B. Walback of the Corps of Artillery in the Service of the United States... partly printed document completed in manuscript.  N.p., 30 April 1815. 2 pages, 20 x 15 1/2 in.

A well-preserved payroll from the Artillery Corps commanded by Captain John B. Walback.

Not to be confused with John de Barth Walbach who would serve as the adjutant general of the Army from 1813, Captain Walback commanded a company in the Artillery Corps. In 1812, there were three artillery regiments but were all merged in 1814 to form the Corps of Artillery with 48 companies in 12 battalions. From later land grants made to War of 1812 veterans, we know that Walback was brevetted a Lieutenant Colonel of Artillery.

[Manuscripts, Documents, Letters, Ephemera, Signatures, Autographs] [Militaria, War of 1812]
