An iconic portrait of Teddy Roosevelt as the consummate "Rough Rider" during the Spanish-American War. 

After initially serving as the assistant secretary of the Navy, he resigned his position to form and lead the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry, better known by their dashing sobriquet: "The Rough Riders." The regiment was enormously popular and gained legendary status after their victory at the Battle of San Juan Hill.
