Architectural perspective on the historic adobe facade of Mission Dolores (Misión San Francisco de Asís), showing its columns, arched portal, and roofline cross, with several individuals posed near the entry stairs and wooden picket enclosure.

3.) The Old Mansion House and Mission Dolores outdoor albumen stereoview. San Francisco, California: Lawrence & Houseworth, 1866. Publishers copyright and series identification to mount recto. Publisher's imprint printed to mount verso. Period ink to mount verso.

View of the whitewashed adobe Mansion House complex adjacent to the mission chapel, set across the broad, unpaved Mission settlement foreground.

Founded in 1776 by Father Francisco Palóu under the direction of Junípero Serra, Mission San Francisco de Asís (popularly known as Mission Dolores) is the oldest surviving intact structure in San Francisco and the sixth religious settlement established in the Alta California mission chain. Following secularization in the 1830s, the surrounding outbuildings and adobe quarters were converted into commercial uses before Catholic administration was restored. Lawrence & Houseworth's views from 1865 and 1866 provide some of the earliest commercial stereoscopic documentation of this Spanish-Mexican colonial landmark, preserving its rustic adobe walls, original redwood roof framing, and surrounding dirt plains before intense urban infill reshaped the Mission District.

Very good condition overall. The albumen prints display rich tones, sharp definition, and strong contrast, showing faint surface soil, light corner rubbing, and minor edge handling wear. Mounts remain flat, rigid, and structurally sound.
