Outstanding dynamic action view on yellow mount from the "California" series, looking down from the bluffs toward the sandy stretch of Ocean Beach. Captures a bustling assemblage of open two-horse carriages, buggies, barouches, and horseback riders kicking up sand near the resort outbuildings.
The original Cliff House, erected in 1863 overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Seal Rocks, was the undisputed jewel of San Francisco’s Gilded Age coastal recreation. Reached via the Point Lobos toll road, it attracted elite society, carriage enthusiasts, and tourists eager to view the sea lion colonies and incoming merchant vessels. Lawrence & Houseworth were instrumental in popularizing the site nationally through their expansive catalog of stereoscopic imagery.

Very good condition overall. The prints retain strong contrast and sharp clarity, exhibiting only light scattered surface soil and faint age-toning. Mounts remain flat, rigid, and well-preserved.
