.62 caliber. 8" pinned barrel. NSN. Heavily oxidized metal, brass furniture, walnut stock. Single shot flintlock muzzleloading pistol made without sights, missing the ramrod, with engraved thumb plate that reads "JO" in script. 4.5" slightly rounded two screw lock is weakly marked "R / WICKSTEAD" under the rounded, fenced and unbridled iron pan. Lock appears to be in original flint but a broken lock screw head prevents the removal of the lock for internal inspection. Barrel with London Gunmaker's proof marks and an indiscernible maker's mark. Richard Wickstead (Wicksted) worked in London as a gunmaker circa 1761-1784. A nice little Revolutionary War era English pistol that has suffered from poor storage over the years. {ANTIQUE}

Fair to Good. Bore dark, rusty and pitted. Metal with a thick, rough, untouched attic brown patina, showing moderate pitting. Markings weak. Mechanically functional action. Lock appears to be in original flint but could not be removed for internal inspection. Wood with moderate wear, numerous bumps, dings and mars. No ramrod is present.
