Founding Father Henry Knox (1750-1806) was a senior general of the Continental Army and served as chief of artillery in most of Washington's campaigns. Following the war, he oversaw the War Department and became the new nation's first Secretary of War.
In addition to the nice, bold signature is a handsome portrait of Knox with his signature artillery and a very rare "Knox" commemorative ribbon honoring his success in the New York campaign and the "noble train of artillery" of captured British ordnance captured from Fort Ticonderoga in 1775. VERY RARE, we found no other examples.
