A virulently antisemitic propaganda poster averring Jewish control of international politics, harkening back to the earlier Protocols of the Elders of Zion hoax. The so-called "Eternal Jew" dominates the frame, holding a large Star of David above a ruined city. Superimposed on the Star, Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin clutches a wailing Soviet worker in his blood-stained hands. Perched precariously on his shoulders are Uncle Sam and John Bull, who hold Yugoslav Serb General Draža Mihailović, caricatured as an infant being given a pacifier.
Draža Mihailović (1893-1946) was the leader of the Chetnik Detachments of the Yugoslav Army (Chetniks), a royalist and nationalist movement and guerrilla force established after the Nazi invasion of Yugoslavia in 1941. His forces fought alongside Josip Broz Tito's Partisans, but the groups were driven apart due to opposing ideologies and strategic differences. Later in the war, Allied powers shifted their support to Tito as many Chetnik groups collaborated with Axis forces.
The design was displayed in the "Grand Anti-Masonic Exhibition" that ran from 22 October 1941 until 19 January 1942 in Belgrade, in Nazi-occupied Serbia. The exhibition was financed by the Germans with the support of collaborationist leader Milan Nedić and organized by former members of the fascist Yugoslav National Movement (Zbor).
The title of the exhibition sought to expose alleged Judeo-Masonic and Communist conspiracies for world domination. Artworks were virulently antisemitic, dehumanizing Jews and seeking to justify their extermination. Included as part of the exhibition, over 60,000 copies of 20 different posters were also distributed to Serbians.
