As a leader of the American suffrage movement, Victoria Woodhull (1838-1927) ran for president of the United States in 1872 as a candidate for the Equal Rights Party. Later, she became one of the first female stockbrokers, opening up her own firm, Woodhull, Clafin, & Company, in 1870.
