.44 caliber. 44" pinned octagonal barrel. NSN. Oxidized brown metal, iron furniture, faux finished hardwood stock with raised cheek rest and grease hole in obverse butt. Single shot percussion muzzleloading rifle with fixed notch rear sight and low Rocky Mountain front sight blade. Unmarked percussion lock is secured by a single screw. Barrel unmarked and well, with a somewhat crude drum bolster and a mid-length two-screw tang. Includes a short of full length wood ramrod. An honest example of a southern "Po Boy" plain workingman's rifle that likely put a lot of game on the table during the mid-to-late 19th century and may well have still been putting food in the pot during the Great Depression. {ANTIQUE}

Fair to Good. Bore dark, rusted and with weak rifling. Metal moderately oxidized with some moderate pitting at the breech, some scattered roughness and patches of oxidized discoloration. Lock needs some attention to be more reliable but is basically functional. Wood with moderate wear, missing at least two pins from the forend, leaving the stock loose from the barrel. There is moderate wood loss around the breech and bolster area, and the stock shows numerous bumps, dings and mars.
