A large and striking portrait of a Confederate cavalry officer. The bearded man looks directly at the photographer's lens, his shoulders squared and his legs crossed. He wears the gray double-breasted uniform with yellow trim, his officer's sash tied at his waist and topped by a leather belt. He grasps his cavalry saber in his hand. 

Though the subject is unidentified, the image surfaced in Texas.
