A finely preserved poster advertising a recitation by Yiddish performer Hertz Grosbard (1892-1994), featuring a striking portrait after a woodblock print by Jewish artist Arthur Konik.
Grosbard was a Polish Jew who joined the Vilna Troupe of Warsaw in 1919 and began performing recitations advertised as "word concerts" in which he recited Yiddish classics by authors including Itsik Manger and Scholem Aleichem. Receiving great acclaim, he toured extensively both in Europe and
