SOLDIER'S GIFT INSCRIPTION TO frontispiece and titlepage: "P.O. Reilly / to / Lt.[?] O. Reilly. / Feb 16th. 1866"
Inscribed by "P.O. Reilly" who may be either Private Peter Reilly of Co. F, 115th Pennsylvania Infantry, or Philip Reilly of Co. F, 96th Pennsylvania Infantry; both of whom fought at the Battle of Gettysburg and would have been personally interested in the dedication of the Soldiers' Cemetery and the Pennsylvania monument at Gettysburg.
