Using moody and evocative colors, Johns depicts a swamp within the Florida Everglades. Several specific varieties of native plants and trees are featured throughout the composition, resulting in a uniquely Floridian landscape painting.
A Florida native, Johns "thrives to capture in painting the familiar culture, heritage, and natural beauty of Florida," according to his website. He received his M.F.A. from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2014 and has since traveled the world to create and teach others. Johns's style features contemporary imagery in a traditional look, combining past and present to capture a memory.
