HemisFair '68 flag. Machine-stitched nylon. [New Jersey]: Annin Flagmakers, [1968]. Overall 23 3/4 x 38 1/4 in. 

 

A very rare flag from the HemisFair '68 held in San Antonio, Texas, held from April 6th through October 6th, 1968. The event was planned to coincide with the 250th anniversary of the founding of the city, and organized by Jerome K. Harris, Sr., to promote San Antonio as a cultural and historic destination. In 1965, the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), the organization overseeing World's Fairs and Expositions, awarded HemisFair '68 as an Official Fair. Over 30 nations and 15 corporations participated in the Fair.
