A group of five (5) illustrated Film Kurier booklets promoting German Anti-Semitic Nazi propaganda films, all approx. 8 3/4 x 11 1/2 in. Titles include: 

1. Der ewige Jude [The Eternal Jew] (1940). Directed by Fritz Hippler at the insistence of Minister of Propaganda Joseph Goebbels.

2. Die Rothschilds [The Rothschilds] (1940). Directed by Erich Waschneck, the film offers a virulently antisemitic portrait of the Rothschild family during the Napoleonic Wars.

3. Jud Süß. 2 copies. (1940). Produced by Terra Film at the behest of Joseph Goebelles, it is considered one of the most antisemitic films of all time.

Adapted from Lion Feuchtwanger's novel of the same title based on the life of Joseph Süß Oppenheimer, an 18th-century "court Jew" employed by Duke Karl Alexander of Württemberg. Feuchtwanger (1884-1958), himself Jewish, saw his work as a tragedy and study of human greed and ambition. Other interpretations of the work include the 1934 British film adaptation starring Conrad Veidt (himself an exile from Nazism), which was an early effort to expose Nazi antisemitism. After viewing the film, Goebbels became adamant about producing the virulently antisemitic Nazi version. 

Goebbels and Hitler regarded film as a powerful propaganda tool that could mold public opinion. Jud Süß and Der ewige Jude (see #1) were both conceived as films to translate National Socialism's antisemitic ideology to a popular audience. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival on 8 September 1940 and received rave reviews and the top award. 

Feuchtwanger was horrified at the film and wrote an open letter to seven actors, whom he considered colleagues, denouncing their participation in the propaganda film. 

After the war, the director Veit Harlan was tried for crimes against humanity, but was ultimately only given a light sentence as he averred that Goebbels had dictated the content. 

4. Ohm Krüger [Uncle Krüger] (1941). An anti-British propaganda film depicting the life of South African politician Paul Kruger and his defeat in the Boer War.
