Frederick the Great, King of Prussia (alt. Frederick II, 1712-1786). Half-length portrait against a dark background. He is shown wearing formal military dress, consisting of a blue velvet coat with red facings and gold braid, a black tricorne hat with lace edging, a red sash, and a partially obscured Order of the Black Eagle badge on his left breast. A decorative, pearl-embellished element, possibly a sword hilt, is visible near his wrist at the lower right corner.
