A collection of three (3) tintypes of outdoor scenes, two of which feature the Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania, train station. Ohiopyle is home to a stretch of the Youghiogheny River, which George Washington tried to reach Fort Duquense with during the French and Indian War. He was forced to abandon the river passage and turned back near Ohiopyle's waterfalls, eventually establishing Fort Necessity nearby. This was where the Battle of the Great Meadows took place, which was famously Washington's only military surrender.
Included are:
1. Half plate outdoor tintype. Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania: [mid- to late-19th century]. Uncased. Features several men standing at the station, where a sign reading "Ohio Pyle" can be seen.
2. Half plate outdoor tintype. Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania: [mid- to late-19th century]. Uncased. Tinting to foliage and signs. Features a single man standing at the aforementioned Ohiopyle station.
3. Quarter plate outdoor tintype. [Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania], [mid- to late-19th century]. Uncased, in brass mat. Likely a shot of another section of Ohiopyle.
