Two (2) albumen CDVs featuring Lula Lake and Falls. N.p., n.d [circa 1866]. One with two-cent stamp applied to verso and handstamp of R.M. Linn, Point Lookout, Tennessee, dated May 28, 1866.

In December 1863, Robert “Royan” M. Linn established a photography studio on Lookout Point, a precipice of Lookout Mountain, about 2,000 feet above the Tennessee River. His "Gallery Point Lookout," a joint venture with his brother, was soon abustle with Union officers, solider, and even civilians vying to have their pictures taken onsite.

Exploration, swimming, and rafting were all popular recreational activities for visitors of Lookout Mountain's Lula Lake, known as Lake Solitude during the Civil War, and associated series of falls. In one image, a figure is seen in the middle distance, conveying the expansive calm of the landscape, even amidst the wartime turmoil.
