Photographer unidentified. San Antonio, Texas. Circa 1870s.
Stereoview looking across Military Plaza toward the rear and side of San Fernando Cathedral. Canvas-covered wagons and open carts crowd the unpaved square, with draft animals standing among them and men attending to their teams. The church’s weathered masonry, buttresses, rounded dome, and bell tower rise above the traffic.
Mounted on pink cardstock with a yellow reverse, stamped “Military Plaza, San Antonio, Texas.” A separate purple stamp reads “Jno. E. Collins,” with a New York address beneath it. The Collins stamp does not expressly identify a photographer.
