A charming image of a child wearing an intriguing feathered costume while posing next to their loyal dog. The subject, possibly a participant in a pageant or theatrical production, wears knee-high socks, a feathered tunic, fabric wings, and a plumed cap that suggests a beak. Perhaps they were playing Papageno in the Magic Flute or another avian-inspired role. The image is enhanced further by the well-behaved dog in sharp focus, which was rare for animal companions in 19th-century photography.
