Nine daguerreotype plates (six ninth-plates and three sixteenth-plates) housed together under a custom multi-aperture gilt brass mat, displayed in a period beveled mahogany-veneered wooden wall-hanging frame. Inscribed and dated on the reverse November 15, 1852, identifying the father, mother, sons, daughters/wives, and family residence in St. Johnsville, New York. Frame measures approx. 11 1/2 x 12 1/2 in.; mat sight approx. 6 x 7 1/4 in.
A visual genealogical archive and folk art wall installation documenting three generations of an antebellum Mohawk Valley family. Arranged symmetrically in a nine-aperture brass mat, the assembly centers on the family matriarch, flanked by elder family members in bonneted caps, surrounded by the patriarch and mature adult sons dressed in tailored frock coats and silk neckwear. The detailed period manuscript notations preserved on the reverse provide a complete map of the sitters along with the location of their St. Johnsville homestead in Montgomery County, New York.
Multi-plate daguerreian wall frames preserving an intact family lineage from a specific antebellum community are scarce artifacts of the Daguerreian Era.

Very good condition. The plates retain sharp focal detail, rich contrast, and warm tones, showing honest age with faint perimeter halo tarnish, light scattered solarization, and minor dusting. The original beveled wood frame retains its rich finish with light surface abrasions, minor edge rubbing, and stable joints.
