Serigraph poster promoting the first issue of the underground magazine Oz, designed by Martin Ritchie Sharp (Australian, 1942 - 2013) and published in London in February 1967. Unsigned, but with Sharp's autograph and date from 2003. Visible 19 x 29 1/4, framed to 21 1/2 x 31 3/4 in.

A striking artifact of 1960s British counterculture, this serigraph poster captures the psychedelic spirit of Oz magazine.  Oz, published in London between 1967 and 1973 by editors Richard Neville, Jim Anderson, and Felix Dennis, defined an era of underground rebellion. Renowned for its avant-garde design and revolutionary artwork, notably by pop artist Martin Sharp, the publication pushed both artistic and social boundaries. This vibrant screenprint, with its red toothy grin at center, exemplifies the magazine’s groundbreaking aesthetic, merging fine art with countercultural provocation.

Australian artist, cartoonist, and filmmaker Martin Sharp was a key figure of 1960s Pop Art and psychedelic design. He served as the art director of Oz in both Sydney and London, and Sharp also achieved international fame through his vivid posters for icons like Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan, alongside iconic album covers for Cream.
