Souvenir 25th Triennial Conclave, Grand Encampment of the U.S. Denver, Colorado. 1892. Denver, Colorado: W.H. Lawrence & Co., 1892
Souvenir die-cut Maltese cross-shaped. Original illustrated wrappers and white & pink cords.
An unusual album from the 25th Triennial Conclave of the Grand Encampment of the Knights Templar held on 9 August 1892 in Denver. Known as the "Silver Conclave" it brought thousands of Masonic Knights Templar from across the country to Colorado in its silver-mining boom era.
The cover features a central Rocky Mountain landscape vignette flanked by two Knights Templar illustrations with a crusader at left and insignia at right.
Interior contains multi-page die-cut card leaves, each mounted with authentic, carefully preserved pressed natural Rocky Mountain botanical specimens captioned with contemporary manuscript pencil identifications. Specimens include native Colorado wildflowers such as Columbine, Mariposa Lily, and other indigenous mountain flora.
