Sixth plate half-length studio portrait tintypes. N.p., circa 1861-1865. Full leatherette case.
Pair of images each depicting a Confederate soldier armed with a converted M1816 musket. Clearly taken during the same session, each young Rebel holds his musket at an angle across their chest. They both also wear identical black felt hats and wildly patterned battle shirts. They both feature the same brass elements, further bolstering the idea that the photos were made on the same visit. It is highly likely that these men were related. It is unclear what specific unit they belonged to, but there is a strong chance they hailed from a more remote western state based on their clothing.
An excellent and rare pair of Confederate images.
