From original plates taken by Mathew Brady and his team, each published by Taylor & Huntington of Hartford, Connecticut. Each view on publisher's cardstock mount with imprint, series, and view title to recto. Versos bear descriptions of the views and publisher's photographic history. Views include:

A view of the celebrated 13-inch siege mortar mounted on a reinforced railway flatcar (the "Dictator").

2. Federal Camp at Johnsonville, Tenn. Outdoor view originally taken in Johnsonville, Tennessee.

3. Libby Prison, Richmond, Va. Outdoor view originally taken in Richmond, Virginia.

Full exterior view of the notorious Confederate prisoner-of-war facility in Richmond.

4. Admiral Farragut. Half-length studio portriat.

5. Outer Line at Nashville: Outdoor view originally taken in Nashville, Tennessee.

6. Waiting for Exchanged Prisoners. Outdoor view originally taken in Virginia.

7. Gen. George Stoneman and Staff, near Fair Oaks, June, 1862. Outdoor view originally taken in Fair Oaks, Virginia.

Group portrait of Union cavalry commander General George Stoneman and his officers assembled before a field tent.

Taylor & Huntington acquired the original wet-plate collodion negatives produced by Mathew Brady's photographic corps and the U.S. government, reissuing them in the late 19th century as the authoritative "Photographic War History" series. This well-preserved grouping brings together several of the conflict's most iconic visual records.
