Sixth plate half-length studio portrait tintype. N.p., [circa 1860s]. Full thermoplastic octagonal case.
A cased tintype view of a double-armed Confederate soldier peering directly into the photographer’s lens while holding a slant-breeched Sharps rifle. He also has a revolver holstered in his belt.. The hint of a carbine sling is also visible. He is wearing a double-roller belt and buckle that was typical of belt rigs worn by early Confederate soldiers.
Wearing a jacket unbuttoned at the top, revealing a white collared shirt and a necktie. His cheeks are very lightly hand-tinted, whilst the wedding band on his finger is gilt in gold.
A fine Confederate image.
