Sixth-plate three-quarter length portrait ruby ambrotype of Union drummerboy. N.p., ca. 1860s. Full leatherette case.

A three-quarters length portrait depicting a Union Army drummer boy standing and facing towards the camera. He wears a regulation Union Army cavalry musician's shell jacket, trimmed with horizontal bars across the chest, along with a forage cap. A drum is suspended at his side by a shoulder strap, and he holds a drumstick in one hand while the other rests near the drum's rim. The boy appears to be stifling a smile.
