An excellent view of a young Confederate soldier. He stares grimly at the photographer's lens, with his arms relaxed at his sides. His hair is coifed and he wears a clean battle-shirt, a popular choice of garment outside of uniform for a Confederate soldier. This particular style resembles that of what soldiers from the Trans-Mississippi theater would have worn, perhaps indicating where his enlistment may have occurred, though no definitive identification is known.
