Outstanding and very scarce original CDV of Union Maj. Gen. George McClellan. This is a highly uncommon view of one of the most interesting military leaders of the American Civil War. A remarkably candid shot, the General was photographed while he browsed the images in a CDV album. What could have caught Little Mac's eye on that day? The operator who struck this photo, Black of Boston, ranks as one of the most skilled photographic artists of the Civil War period. This is a top-shelf example of his ability to curate a very personal moment between the subject and his lens.
