M1860 light cavalry sword. Chicopee, Massachusetts; Ames Manufacturing Co., 1864. Ricasso engraved with Ames scroll "Made by / AMES MFG. CO. / CHICOPEE, / MASS." Ricasso reverse stamped with inspector mark: "US / G.W.C. / 1864". Blade 34 3/4 in. Overall 42 3/4 in.
A Civil War Ames light cavalry sword. The blade has a toned-down metal look with a clean edge. The grip retains its original leather and wire wrap. The correct scabbard is present.
