Regulation 1851 Pattern Officer's waist belt plate and keeper. Gilt cast brass plate with applied wide tongue and silver-plated wreath. Plate only 3 1/2 x 2 in. WITH Original brown leather and gold bullion General's belt rig. 

 

O'Donnell & Campbell 646-649.

 

A rare, original, and complete General's belt rig. The brown leather belt, still supple and pliable, features horizontal bars of gold bullion, signifying the rank of General. The rig is complete with saber hangers in place, also with gold bullion general's bars & saber attachment hooks. The pattern was regulation from brigadier to major genearls including commanders, worn by the likes of Generals Grant, Sherman, and Sheridan. 

 

A rare belt that is seldom encountered.
