The 10th Illinois Infantry saw the most action when they joined Sherman's Atlanta Campaign and March to the Sea.

A manuscript Special Orders issued to Captain Schimtt, permitting him to complete muster and payroll: "Capt Schmitt Comdg. Ind Batt. N.Y. Vols is authorized to complete the muster + pay rolls of that Battalion...for...Lt. Col. Confort after having mustered the Battalion failed + neglected to complete his duties as mustering officer."
A nice collection of field-issued Special Orders.
