This commemorative ribbon is from the unveiling of the Jefferson Davis Memorial in Richmond, Virginia, on 3 June 1907. The unveiling of this monument was part of a days-long celebration of the Confederacy in Richmond. It was unveiled on the birthday of Jefferson Davis (1808-1889), which would also become one of several Confederate Memorial Days celebrated in the South.
Located on Richmond’s Monument Avenue, this memorial was up for over 100 years before it was toppled during the George Floyd protests of 2020. The rest of the monument was eventually removed in 2022.
