10 Gauge. 18" barrels. NSN. Heavily oxidized metal, iron mountings, checkered hardwood stock and forend. Double barrel percussion shotgun with double triggers and hammers, modified for Confederate service with shortened barrels, and a sling ring installed with an eye bolt at the left wrist. Unmarked lock is lightly engraved, breeches with gold bands, bottoms of barrels with Liege proofs. Includes an old, appropriately sized wooden ramrod. While most "Confederate" shotguns are much more modern fantasy pieces, this gun is almost certainly a real, legitimate example of a Confederate modified shotgun. Similar examples are shown in Confederate & Southern Agent Marked Shotguns by Pritchard, et al. {ANTIQUE}

WITH Confederate waist belt, outfitted with an iron sword hanger hook and the following crudely constructed pouches:

1. Diminutive cap box with improvised nail finial.

2. Small Cartridge box with brass carriage finial, a period plied flax repair to the latch tab, and the original metal insert.

3. English-style musket ball bag with a hair or wool insert, brass bass finial and several period repairs.

4. Small cartridge box with brass ball finial and original tin insert.

ALSO WITH a smooth-sided tin drum canteen badly dented to both sides, with an improvised corncob stopper.
