Single shot percussion muzzleloading musket with no rear sight, brass front sight blade, sling swivels and a full-length trumpet head ramrod. Standard Springfield lock markings, dated "1845" at the tail. Harpers Ferry inspected barrel with no date present and a "18" added to the tang in an attempt to add a date. Barrel with standard "V/P/{Eagle Head}" proofs and a Harpers Ferry "PB/P" inspection mark. No cartouche on the counterpane. Musket is accompanied by a French Model 1822 Socket Bayonet that fits the gun, and is the model of bayonet that the US copied for the US Model 1835 bayonets that were originally issued with the Model 1842 Muskets. {ANTIQUE}

Good to Very Good, as assembled. Bore moderately oxidized with scattered discoloration and some light pitting. Metal lightly cleaned with scattered oxidation and age discoloration. Some light pitting at the breech, barrel date removed and a re-stamping attempt was made. Lock markings clear. No cartouches. Mechanically functional lock. Wood very good with decent edges and showing scattered bumps, dings and mars.
